2024 was the year of Coming of Aging. This blog, and the lessons of aging, have brought so much to me.
The joy of writing
I barely write. I just gather scraps of impressions each day, sleep on them, and up comes another raw post which I then prune until I like its shape - and publish. You are an essential ingredient. Your observation feeds the stream of creativity.
You can now pay me if you like
Everything I write is still free, but I’ve put an optional price on subscribing. Why pay for what you can get for free?
You want to express your appreciation for this blog and my work in general.
You think that somewhere down the road paid subscribers will get special content.
You feel part of this Coming of Aging inquiry, a kinship affirmed by a financial gift.
In other words, there’s nothing special - yet - behind the paywall. I may start a writing group and paid subscribers will have first crack at that. I may try other offerings and paid subscribers will be invited to test them out. If groups, courses, coaching, classes or soirees become regular offerings, paid subscribers may get special access.
Aside: My first idea is a Coming of Aging online writing group with people who’ve signed up with this link to learn from my inspiring teacher, Ann Randolph. Whether we circle up or not, I highly recommend her for healing through story telling.
I haven’t worked - explicitly - for money in decades
Since early financial independence (captured in my book, Your Money or Your Life), I have not worked for money, though sometimes my work has brought money to me. I’ve been privileged to be more like an artist - observing, feeling, thinking, writing, speaking as a curious human connecting with the tenor of the times. Sometimes I get money for this, but the art and the money are not connected in my mind.
Coming of Aging will continue in this spirit. Everything is free. Become a paid subscriber just because you want to - and maybe even some special goodies down the road.
My recent post, After the Fall, revealed how I need to, once again, transform my relationship with money. It’s time to allow abundance, not just frugality, support me. This is a first step towards abundance, towards letting what I give out, give back.
If you already subscribe, but now you want to be a paid subscriber for any of the above reasons, feel free to do so.
Laissez les bon temps rouler
We are in for shocks in 2025 and beyond. There is no new normal. The desire for normal will prevent us from riding the waves ahead. I don’t know what waves will hit you or me. I do know that staying connected, honest and of good cheer is pro-survival. Be like Penelope. No matter who tries to unravel trust between us, keep knitting. Count on me to knit with you.
Love ya Vicki, your writing IS so alive, so present, for these times we live in. i’m so glad to know you and hope to see you soon💥🙏
Ditto to @Sarah Knoebber!
