Fantastic.

I had wanted to age gracefully.

Instead I am raging against the dying of the light. I will now reread this poem

“Be old as a gift” wins the internet for me. I’m doing that daily to the best of my ability. Thank you, Vicki! 🥰😘

"Be old as a gift".

I could cry at your gift of wisdom, dear Vicki, and for its absence in the world we've created: a world devoid of elders; devoid of wisdom; devoid of limits. Thank you xxx

Beautiful Thank you, Vicki. I am reading this in a summer heatwave, but I am already in the autumn of my life and winter lies just over the hill. This is a beautiful message to approach that season with.

Love this so much dear Vicki. I have just one problem, which is with the advice to fly to the tropics travel in groups…… so few people in this time of rapidly accelerating collapse of all systems are willing to give up behaviors that actually increase carbon, spread other toxicity, and use up money that could be better spent to build resilient community or help Save starving people all over the planet. I actually believe flying is unethical now and when it gets right down to, it can actually be called murderous…. Both in the doing a bit…. And not using those funds to save lives all around the globe. I have few allies in this belief except people who deeply understand systems collapse./multi crisis/poly crisis and are willing to be part of slowing the glide for the sake of our children and all beings.

And again your gift is such a wonder for those of us making peace with aging just as it is. 🌍💜🙏🏼

of course, Margo and John, it is so important to remind us all of our carbon footprint -- and to use our finances to help as many people as possible === and also gift ourselves -- if not we become depressed and lonely for our teen years!!! LOL -- gifting ourselves in this time of life with a trip to sunshine is also important and in my life, essential to my soul. And even as a metaphor, we must give ourselves the warmth of letting go in some form of deep fulfillment with no responsibilities and the freedom to be wild and care - less. I agree and I know Vicki well enough to know she agrees and spends her life doing the best she can to be a conscious planetary member of the human race. But, I must defend, for myself, if not her, the right to care give to ourselves -- for me, my life would be soulfully painful if I could not go back home to my family and friends in the sunshine and balm. And flying there is the only way to use the least amount of resources. That said, Vicki, your poem is powerful. Thank you.
